DEAR SUN SPOTS: You have helped me in the past. I’m here again asking for information. You are a wonderful, interesting part of the paper.
In Sunday’s paper, 9/3/17, there were many help wanted ads. My question is, how do you call these places for a job when the ad just has e-mail addresses or websites, but no phone numbers? I’m sure a lot of readers looking for jobs don’t have computers and I’m one of them. A phone number would be helpful.
I’ve also been trying to find two phone numbers, one for Great Falls Marketing and for the TD Call Center in Lewiston and Auburn. If you and your readers can help find these numbers and get back to me in Sun Spots, that would be nice. — No Name, No Town
ANSWER: First of all, Great Falls Marketing encourages applicants to come to their corporate offices between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 121 Mill Street in Auburn to fill out an application. You can also call 333-3561 or 1-800-221-8895 and press 7 for the job hotline.
The human resources department at TD Bank’s Call Center can be reached by calling 520-6318.
Besides sharing this contact information, your letter has given me a great opportunity to make sure everyone knows about Maine CareerCenters. They provide free services and resources to job-seekers and employers, including access to computers, help with technology, training, job listings, and workshops. They also hold career fairs where area employers and potential employees can meet face-to-face.
The CareerCenter in Lewiston is at 5 Mollison Way and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can contact them at 1-800-741-2991. There is a job fair from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 2. I believe the job fairs take place once a month.
Because of your location, I’m also providing information for The Southern Midcoast CareerCenter at 275 Bath Rd. in Brunswick. They are also open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be reached at 1-888-836-3355. Job hunting can be stressful and it’s so much easier with the support systems you can find at the CareerCenter. I have had very good experiences there with all the helpful people.
You may also want to check out your nearest library if you simply need access to a computer to look up information on the web. Besides computers you can use for free, some libraries also offer workshops and many resources for people looking for employment. The best of luck to you in your job search!
