LEWISTON — A suspect in a break-in wasn’t just playing possum when it was spotted in a Lisbon Street business Friday morning.
Police got a call at 7:10 a.m. that an opossum got into the hallway at 223 Lisbon St., Lewiston Police Lt. David St. Pierre said.
“The opossum was found to be acting nasty to the officer that responded,” St. Pierre said. Likely as a defense mechanism, he said.
Efforts to detain the critter were unsuccessful.
“They tried to put a blanket over it,” St. Pierre said. “It scurried down the street and ran down into some wooded area eventually.”
