UPDATE FROM 2 PORTER BRIDGE ROAD — Gregory L. “Greg” Arsenault, 62, of 2 Porter Bridge Rd. in Mexico, logged out of Facebook for the last time on Tuesday, Sept. 19. He passed away peacefully at CMMC in Lewiston surrounded by loving family following a courageous battle.
He was born in Rumford on Aug. 13, 1955, the second child of Reginald W. & Harriet (Henry) Arsenault.
Greg attended Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School Class of 1973. Following graduation he studied for two years at SMTC in Portland.
In 1976, he married Norma Lauzier; together they celebrated 41 years of marriage and raised two sons, Cory and Casey.
He began his working career at the age of 16 with Big Al’s Delivery. He then went to work for 10 years at Day’s Jewelers, Furniture and Appliances and two years at Glenn’s Discount Tire & Fuel.
For 27 years Greg and his wife Norma owned and operated Maddy’s Pizza, a place to socialize and enjoy a great meal where they made many new friends.
Greg was an avid sports fan and loved hunting, fishing, bowling and spending summers at Murray’s Cove.
He had a love for young people and was very active in community service, volunteering for a number of years at the Mexico Rec Department before becoming its first full-time director.
Greg was a longtime member of the Mexico Fire Department and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Oakdale Country Club.
Most important in Greg’s life was spending time with his family; the past three years have been some of the happiest for him after the birth of his granddaughter, Nugget.
Surviving are his wife, Norma (Lauzier) Arsenault of Mexico; children, Cory Arsenault and wife, Bobbie of Casco and Casey Arsenault of St. Augustine, Fla.; four brothers, Reginald Arsenault Jr. and wife, Louise of Mexico, Woodrow “Woody” Arsenault and wife, Cindy of Summerville, S.C., John “Jack” Arsenault and wife, Carrie of Mexico and Mark Arsenault and family of Winthrop; a granddaughter, McKenna “Goose” Arsenault; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Marty Judkins and companion Bob, Patsy Leavitt and husband Mark, Kerry Judkins and wife Anita, Randy Judkins and companion Sabrina, Ann Cullens and husband Andy and Normand Lauzier.
He was predeceased by his parents.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at CMMC and Rumford Hospital for the compassionate care given to Greg. Also, a special thank you to MedCare Ambulance Service for Greg’s many trips to the hospital.
