LEWISTON — Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a “Basic and Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control Practices” training from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Kaplan University, 475 Lisbon St.

The workshop will cover topics such as why erosion control is needed, laws and regulations requiring erosion control, erosion and sedimentation, erosion control best management practices and planning, pollution prevention at construction sites and erosion control plan designs.

The training will qualify for certification and recertification in erosion and sediment control practices through the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Those who are looking for first time certification will have to complete and submit a site evaluation to the Maine DEP after completing this training.

The registration fee for the all-day workshop is $75, which covers all materials, breakfast and lunch.
