OXFORD — Richard C. Miller II, 60, of Oxford, died late Friday evening, Sept. 29, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous 30-year battle with MS.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1956, in Allentown, Pa., a son of Richard C. and Charlotte (Williams) Miller. He graduated from Allentown schools and went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
While stationed in Japan, he met Karen Smith and they were married “state side” on June 10, 1978, in Oxford where they made their home and he worked locally at the Inn at Poland Spring until ill health forced him to stop.
He was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan; however, he was a greater fan of his grandchildren and nieces and nephews, whose company he loved so much.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, of Oxford; a daughter, Jamie Hynes and her husband, Justin of Casco; a sister, Kathy Miller of Allentown, Pa.; grandchildren, Julia and Ashlee Gay of South Paris and Alexander Hynes of Casco; a step-granddaughter, Amorette Hynes, of Casco; his mother-in-law, Faye Smith of Oxford; sister-in-law, Stacia Cordwell and her husband Steve, of Oxford; brother-in-law, Jim Smith and his wife Karol, of Oxford; nieces and nephews, Ami Mosher of CA, Chad Miller of PA, Kim Cordwell of MA, Shawn Cordwell and his wife, Stephanie and their son, Benjamin of Oxford, Kelsey Smith of Oxford and Brandon Smith of Oxford. He was predeceased by his parents; and his father-in-law, Harry Smith.
