NORWAY — Elizabeth Lou Hollis, 87, passed peacefully Sept. 28 after a brief illness. She was born April 13, 1930, in Locke Mills. Fiercely independent, with a little stubbornness thrown in for good measure, Betty was strong in spirit, loving and supportive of her children, family and many friends.

After raising her children in Massachusetts she returned to Maine after she retired from Digital Equipment Corp., where she worked as the manager of their micro fiche department — first to the camp she owned on South Pond in Greenwood, and then to Norway. Betty loved to knit — donating hard-knit socks, mittens and hats to local charities. She loved to read, and dance (every Saturday night!) and she especially loved to ski, not hanging up her skis until she was 80 years old. Mt. Abram was her ‘home’ mountain for many years and she was a member of the Top of the Hill Gang. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Paris and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Wilmon T. Hollis; her son, Robert Davis Parker; and her sister, Mary Hazelton.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia DiMatteo, Nancy Fauser, Constance Gatz and Joanne Giannetti; her granddaughters, Nicole Gatz and Courtney Giannetti; her grandson, Louis Giannetti III; her sister, Joan Kimball; her brother, John Davis; and her “granddog,” Sophie.

Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com.
