RUMFORD — Three Emilys led Spruce Mountain to a 2-1 field hockey victory over Mountain Valley on Wednesday.
Emily Goding and Emily White scored and Emily Castonguay had an assist for the Phoenix.
Rylee Sevigny scored the Falcons’ lone goal off an assist from sister Rylee.
Alyssa Akers stopped 15 shots for Mountain Valley, and Sydney Shaffer made seven saves for Spruce Mountain.
Winthrop 7, Lisbon 0
LISBON — Winthrop routed Lisbon 7-0 in a Class C field hockey game Wednesday.
Winthrop’s Kinli Dibiase scored a hat trick, while Moriah Hajduk, Katie Pertans and Nora Conrad also contributed goals.
Lisbon’s Mikaylia Harnden saved seven shots.
Poland 5, Gray-New-Gloucester 0
POLAND — Bri Doucette scored twice as Poland beat Gray New-Gloucester 5-0 in Class B field hockey Wednesday.
Autumn Willis, Desiree Wante and Olivia Bell also scored for Poland. Wante also tallied two assists.
Alicia Credit saved 15 shots for GNG, while Ashton Sturtevant finished with one save for the Knights.
Girls’ soccer
Spruce Mountain 2, Wiscasset 1, OT
JAY — Spruce Mountain edged Wiscasset 2-1 in overtime Wednesday in girls’ soccer action.
Calley Baker scored the game-winner for the Phoenix.
Hanna St. Pierre got Spruce Mountain on the board in the first half. Gwen Webber tied the game for Wiscasset in the second half.
Annabelle Collins saved six shots for Spruce, while Lindsey Gordon saved 12 for the Wolverines.
Mountain Valley 2, Dirigo 1
RUMFORD — Mountain Valley came out of its senior night victorious with a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Dirigo in girls’ soccer Wednesday.
Dirigo’s Felicity Boulanger scored the only goal for the Cougars. Saydie Garbarini tied the game for Mountain Valley, followed by Gabbie Gallant’s go-ahead goal in the second half.
Mountain Valley’s Lauren Sterling stopped 13 shots, while Katie Morse saved 11 shots for Dirigo.
Buckfield 7, Greater Portland Christian 1
BUCKFIELD — Katy Henderson scored three goals to lead the Buckfield girls’ soccer team to a 7-1 win over Greater Portland Christian on Tuesday.
Henderson, who scored once in the first half and twice in the second, also had an assist. Teammate Hannah Shields tallied one goal and set up another. Julia Dow, Siana Jacobs and Kylie Carrier also scored for the Bucks (5-2-2).
Cortney Spaulding scored the lone goal for Greater Portland Christian (0-8).
Hebron 3, Hyde 0
BATH — Hebron won easily over Hyde, 3-0, in girls’ soccer on Wednesday.
Hyde received a red card for handball, which put them down a player with 28 minutes remaining in the first half. Eliza Quinones scored the ensuing penalty kick. Iman Shepard scored next and later assisted on Olivia Newell’s goal.
Logan Arseneau saved three shots for Hebron, while Alice Yokabaskas saved nine for Hyde.
Boys’ soccer
Spruce Mountain 1, Wiscasset 0
WISCASSET — Spruce Mountain defeated Wiscasset 1-0 in boys’ soccer Wednesday.
Logan Howes of Spruce Mountain scored the game-winner with 25 minutes remaining in the match.
Andrew Shaw saved eight shots for the Phoenix, while Sam Strozier stopped seven shots for Wiscasset.
Women’s soccer
Bowdoin 3, Bates 2
LEWISTON — Bates tied the game late, but Bowdoin broke that tie even later to pull off a 3-2 NESCAC women’s soccer win Wednesday at Russell Street Field.
Bowdoin took a 2-0 lead, but Bates (5-3-1, 2-2-1 NESCAC) bounced back with a header goal by freshman Summer Dias and then a goal by another freshman, So Kim, in the 81st minute that tied the game.
However, Brigit Bergin scored in the 88th minute to give the Polar Bears (6-2-1, 2-2-1) the win.
UMaine-Farmington 2, Southern Maine 1
GORHAM — McKenna Brodeur had a goal and an assist to lead the University of Maine at Farmington to a 2-1 women’s soccer win over the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday.
Brodeur’s goal, her ninth of the season, came 30 seconds into the game. She then helped break a tie in the 86th minute by setting up Kaiti Kinney for the game-winner.
The Beavers improve to 5-5 with the win.
College field hockey
Bowdoin 6, UMaine-Farmington 1
BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin field hockey team scored early and kept scoring in a 6-1 win over the University of Maine at Farmington on Wednesday.
Elle Brine scored 5:18 into the game, and Abby Bashaw added another goal two minutes later. By the end of the first half, the Polar Bears held a 5-0 lead.
The Beavers final got on the board when Kasey Talarico scored late in the second half.
