WILTON — The town has received eight applications for superintendent and chief operator of the wastewater treatment and water plants, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said.
The position has been vacant since Sept. 12, when Justin Futia left town employment.
Jay Sewer Superintendent Mark Holt has been assisting Wilton for four or five hours a week since late September.
Holt told Jay selectpersons Tuesday that he would probably be done this week. He has been helping with lab work until a new superintendent is hired. The operator can call him if help is needed, he said.
Workers in the Wilton departments have been continuing with the day-to-day work.
“I think they are going to be OK,” Holt said.
Wilton had plenty of applicants for the position and will be starting to interview soon, he said.
Jay Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said Irish asked her to convey to Jay selectpersons that they appreciated them allowing Holt to help them.
Interview dates have not been set, Irish said Tuesday. The applications are being reviewed.
“I hope to see someone named to the position by November,” she said.
