AUGUSTA — Maine-ly Harmony women’s barbershop chorus will hold a public bean supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Episcopal Church, 209 Eastern Ave.

Veteran bean supper chef Nancy Bossie will prepare the meal and the chorus members will provide homemade desserts. Visitors shouldn’t be surprised if the chorus bursts into song while serving its customers.

Proceeds will go to the chorus to help with the cost of safety bars for their risers and to the church.

Future suppers will be held at 4:45 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 11, Dec. 9, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10, April 14 and May 12, at 59 Sabattus St.

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society and the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration will serve an old-fashioned turkey community supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the church, 64 Elm St.

A judging contest on the best homemade pie will be held with the winner awarded a free dinner for two for the next community supper. Pies may be entered into the contest. 

Proceeds will be divided between the Society and church.
