FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to accept insurance coverage from Kyes Insurance Agency Inc. of Farmington for $48,131, county Clerk Julie Magoon said.
There will be an additional cost of $2,000 or less to bond some positions, such as treasurer, bringing the total to about $50,000.
The insurance coverage, effective Jan. 1, 2018, includes liability, cyber, buildings, building contents, auto insurance and anything under the Maine Tort Claims Act, Magoon said.
Kyes’ original quote was for $44,803, but after agency representative Flint Christie met with department heads it was determined that another $1 million in coverage would be added for buildings, and include cyber insurance coverage, she said.
This brought the proposal to $48,131.
The county has insurance through the Maine County Commissioners Association, which promised to keep insurance costs under $73,936, Magoon said.
The risk pool has not set insurance rates yet, Magoon said.
Commissioners voted unanimously to leave Maine County Commissioners Assocation’s risk pool.
