OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen are still eyeing a November installation for the electronic message board they approved in September, according to Selectman Rick Micklon at Wednesday evening’s meeting.
Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said Wednesday that she spoke with an employee at NeoKraft Signs in Lewiston who said there was no exact timeline for installing the board.
However, Micklon pointed out that in August, he was told by NeoKraft that the sign would be installed “sometime in November.”
Townspeople in June authorized using up to $25,000 from the timber reserve account to buy and install an electronic digital sign to replace the changeable letter one in front of the building on Route 121.
The sign selectmen proposed is black and white and looks similar to the one now in use.
Pastore said the Otisfield Elementary School staff asked town officials if they could have the old message board and the letters after the new board arrives.
“I told them that I didn’t think we’d do anything with it, so I said I’d pass the information to you,” Pastore told the board.
Micklon said he wanted to see if the message board at the Otisfield Community Hall could use the changeable letters before donating them to the elementary school.
“I’m not sure if the Town Office letters are compatible with the Community Hall sign, but I want to check it out first,” he said.
