LEWISTON — Freda Maye (Fogg) Hunnewell, 90, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Lewiston.
She was born in Crystal on Jan. 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Jerome and Alice (Tucker) Fogg.
Freda lived in Maine for the majority of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, Walter E. Hunnewell. Together they shared a loving marriage of over 60 years until his passing in 2009. Freda worked in various shoe shops as a ruffer for over 30 years. After their retirement, Freda and Walter worked together with their firewood business for over 15 years. Their truck was often seen around town with “Woody” on Walter’s side, and “Splinter” on Freda’s side. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together and spending time outdoors, especially at Tim Pond Camps in Eustis. She loved to go to high school basketball and softball games and obtained the nickname “Memere Softball” from the St. Dom’s players.
Freda is survived by several nieces and nephews; and her devoted friend, Marianne Ireland.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her four sisters and her six brothers.
Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Freda’s online guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com.
