LEWISTON — Virginia R. Gross, 80, a resident of Turner, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

She was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Rumford, the daughter of Arthur Bachelder and Arlene (Hodgdon) Bachelder. She attended Livermore Falls High School. On June 15, 1957, she married Russell Gross; he passed away in 1999, shortly after celebrating their 42nd anniversary.

In her earlier years she worked for Priscilla Turner Rug Company and loved devoting her time to caring for her family and home. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword and See-A-Word puzzles, camping and the Red Sox. Virginia would knit all year long for a church in Durham to help provide hats and mittens to children for the winter months.

She is survived by her sons, Randall Gross and his wife, Jo-ann of Canton, Duane Gross and his wife, Jonne of Jay; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; half brother, George Bachelder of Livermore Falls.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Russell.
