Daigan Gunzinger of Turner holds Gus, a dog waiting to be adopted at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston. Gunzinger, a fourth-grader at Turner Elementary School, presented the shelter with the donations from his 10th birthday. He asked for donations for pets in lieu of birthday gifts, and party guests generously donated pet food and treats to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals GAHS helps each year.
