FARMINGTON — Madre and Mara Jade are the Pets of the Week at the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

Madre, the Dog of the Week, is a 1- to 3-year-old lab mix. She is a sweet and very wiggly girl who loves other dogs, playing, bouncing and dancing. Madre has not been exposed to cats, so it’s unknown how she will behave. She is good with children who are 7 or older — or big enough that she won’t accidentally knock them down when she bounces.

Cat of the Week Mara Jade may be a senior, but she still has a lot of love to give — she loves nothing more than to find the closest lap and curl up in it with lots of contented purring. Mara Jade is declawed, so she will require a home where she will be just an indoor cat.

Madre, Mara Jade and other pets can be seen at the shelter from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays at 550 Industry Road. Cats and dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption and have been vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas, have had nails trimmed and are microchipped. The shelter also rehomes barn cats, livestock and other pets.
