Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation, 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. An orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the first Thursday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required
Employer Expectations, 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. The workshop will cover creating a great resume, preparing for your interview and preparing for a new job. Individual follow-ups may occur for resume critique as requested. Facilitated by Barclaycard US, it is not a recruitment effort; it is a workshop for people applying for all types of jobs. Slots are limited; registration required.
MEOC-101, Essentials of College Planning, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14. Introduces people to educational opportunities in general and MEOC services in particular. This interactive workshop touches on the four steps in the college process: admissions, financial aid, career and study skills. The financial aid portion of this workshop will provide an overview of financial basics and the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). River Valley Area/Vocational Rehabilitation Orientation, 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, Region 9 School of Applied Technology, 377 River Road, Mexico. An orientation for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the third Wednesday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required
The Small Business Administration offers three workshops, “Starting Your Own Small Business,” “Access to Capital” and “Federal and State Resources for Small Business.” Most of the workshops are two hours. For more information, call Bill Card at 207-622-8555.
CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
