POTSDAM, New York — The State University of New York at Potsdam has awarded scholarships, grants and awards to 1,071 students for the 2017-18 academic year.
The scholarship recipients included Cassia Docos of Harrison, who received the SUNY Potsdam Freshman Scholarship.

HUTCHINSON, Kansas — Hutchinson Community College student Cassidy G. Pelchat of Lisbon was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and was named a U.S. Department of State Gilman Scholar.

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College held its annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day recently to honor those undergraduates who distinguish themselves with excellence in scholarship.
Those students who are designated Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholars are in the top 20 percent of each class for the previous academic year. In addition, those scholars who earned a GPA of 4.0 are designated Sarah and James Bowdoin Book Award winners.
Local Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholars are:
• Diego Villamarin of Auburn, a Book Award winner; and
• Olivia Giles of Gray.

CASTINE — Maine Maritime Academy’s annual academic achievement awards banquet was held on Nov. 9 to honor the scholarly accomplishments of students and the service of faculty.
The following local students were honored:
• Rylee Knox of Turner was acknowledged as an American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Scholar; and
• Tanton Mattson of Lisbon Falls was acknowledged as a Mitchell Scholar.
