On Sunday, Dec. 10, Fryeburg Academy’s award-winning music program will present its annual candlelight concerts at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Leura-Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center on Bradley Street. The event is one of the academy’s oldest traditions, combining holiday music and readings in a seamless program. Nearly 80 students are involved in this year’s performances, bringing together Fryeburg Academy’s chorus, band, vocal jazz, and chamber music ensembles. Highlights of the program include “Hallelujah,” from Handel’s Messiah, Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” Bob Curnow’s “Overture to a Winter Festival” for band, and Kirby Shaw’s gospel-style choral arrangement of “Go Tell it on the Mountain.” Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. For those unable to attend, the concert will be live-streamed on the academy’s official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/FryeburgAcademy/
