RUMFORD — Harold “Thomas” Nowland, 72, of Congress Street in Rumford passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Rumford Hospital.
He was born in Wilmington, Delaware, on Dec. 10, 1944, a son of Clarence L. and Jean (Mischner) Nowland.
Thomas married his college sweetheart, Sharon Chapman, on August 17, 1968, in Peru, Maine; together they have celebrated 49 years of marriage.
He was employed with the family construction company for 25 years as a laborer.
Thomas later went to work as a security guard for 10 years in Wilmington, Delaware.
He loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart and would often preach to anyone, and guided them to have a good marriage.
Thomas loved reading and was an awesome comedian.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Sharon Nowland of Rumford; two children, Sarah Keffer of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and John Nowland of Wilmington, Delaware; a sister, Sandra Frankel and husband Lee of Maryland; two grandchildren, Jordanna and Ashli, and two great-granddaughters, Miya and Isobel.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Doris Lotz, and a brother, Ralph Nowland.
