AUBURN — John S. Towle, of Turner, was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Nov. 22, with family members by his side.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1932, in Topsham, son of Robert S. Towle and Frances Fernald. After finishing his education, John enlisted in the Army, serving from 1949 to 1953. Upon his return to Turner, he met and married Norma Hamlin in 1954. They settled in Southwick, Mass., where they were active in their church. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in June 2017.

John started work at Hamilton Standard in Connecticut in 1967 and retired from there in 1993 after 26 years. During this time, he spent many years involved with the space program. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Norma, returned to Turner, designing/building their own home on Lower Street, where they have resided since 1998.

John has been an active member of the Wayside Bible Baptist Church and was a member of the Turner Seniors Group.

In addition to his wife, Norma Towle, of Turner, John is survived by his seven children, Annie Potts and her husband, Harold (Buddy) of Westfield, Mass., Brenda Towle of Holyoke, Mass., Cheryl Buffam and her husband, Richard of Aruba, Pamela Girouard and her husband, Gary of Chicopee, Mass., Daniel Towle and his wife, Susan of Southwick, Mass., Vicki Kornacki and her husband, John of Blandford, Mass., and Wendy Sylvester and her husband, Theodore of Southwick, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Daphne Burns of Auburn; two brothers, Robert H. Towle of Lampassas, Texas, and Dana Holbrook of Bridgewater, Mass.; one brother-in-law, Robert P. Hamlin of Turner; and one sister-in-law, Betty Hamlin-Smith of Turner.

John was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Louis Holbrook.
