LEWISTON — The Gendron Franco Center will host weeknight classes for adults starting Wednesday, Jan. 10. The classes will run for a 10-week session from January to mid-March.
The classes will be held Wednesdays from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. for beginners with some proficiency and from 6:45 to 8 p.m. for advanced French-learners.
The two classes are intended for those who either want to learn French or those who want to improve their proficiency in the French language, respectively.
Varied topics will be used as a guide to help with speaking. The pace will be relaxed and class will be taught in French with English explanations, as needed. Students are asked to bring a binder or folder and something to write with to class.
Vanessa Stasse will teach both levels of the course. Born in Sherbrooke, Québec, from Belgian parents, she has a master’s degree in anthropology from Laval University in Québec City and has lived in Maine for over 10 years, teaching French and yoga and interpreting in French, English and Portuguese.
Classes will take place in Heritage Hall at the Franco Center. The total cost for the 10 classes is $120.
To register by mail, those interested in participating can send contact information and payment to Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St., Lewiston, ME 04240, Attn: Adult French Classes.
