DEAR SUN SPOTS: I need help from Sun Spots and your readers. On Wednesday, Dec. 27, I took my grandchildren shopping so they could spend the money they received for Christmas. We stopped at Game Stop by Shaw’s first, then Famous Footwear by Kohl’s. We also went to Walmart. One of my grandsons lost his wallet either inside or outside one of these stores. Needless to say, he is devastated. Please help make this boy happy. If you have found the wallet, please contact me at 539-4202 and leave a message if we don’t answer. Thank you in advance for your help.

ANSWER: That’s terrible! I feel so sorry for your grandson. I know there are many kind people out there and hopefully the wallet and its full contents will be recovered. You’ve probably already done this, but call all those stores at least a couple times and triple-check your vehicle. Putting up a poster is always a good idea too.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a creature of habit and one of those habits is to do the daily crossword puzzle. On Dec. 25 and 26 some of the vertical clues were omitted. Is there a way to have this remedied? Thank you!

ANSWER: With all the letters Sun Spots received about this, we now know beyond a shadow of a doubt how passionate our readers are about their crossword puzzles.

The Sun Journal purchases the comics page, which includes the crossword puzzle prepackaged from a third-party vendor. It is delivered “press ready” and the editors didn’t realize the clues were missing until our sharp-eyed readers pointed it out. We contacted the vendor and the error was fixed. The complete crosswords for Dec. 25 and 26 were published on page C8 on Dec. 27. Thank you, readers.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Auburn’s Winterfest will be held Friday, Jan. 26, through Sunday, Jan. 28.The United New Auburn Association was asked to plan an event for Sunday, Jan. 28. In cooperation with the Auburn Recreation Department and Sherwood Heights School, UNAA is planning a sledding/skating party, weather-permitting, for all ages on the hills at Sherwood Heights from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day. We will transform the former tennis courts into an ice rink for skating and the hills will be plowed for sledding. We will offer hot chocolate, cookies and a warming fire pit.

Knowing that many of our attendees may not have adequate winter wear, we are asking for donations of hats, mittens and gloves for the event. They can be delivered to Rolly’s Diner at 87 Mill St., and 4 Season Farm Market at 9 Third St. We may add other drop-off locations in New Auburn if demand is high. We are also asking for donations of sleds, flying saucers, and ice skates in good, usable condition.

For more information contact Ken Blais at Rolly’s Diner at  753-0171, Kathy Shaw at 4 Season Farm Market at 212-0802, or City Councilor Leroy Walker at 577-2694.
