DEAR SUN SPOTS: One of your readers asked about creating keepsakes from clothing in the column published Jan. 5. I wanted to let you know that this is what my company, Once Upon a Time Creation, does. Although we are not local to you (we are based outside Philadelphia), we do take mail-in orders. Our website is www.onceuponatimecreation.com. Email me at jen@onceuponatimecreation.com or call 610-202-7850. Our mailing address is 32 Chetwynd Road, Paoli, PA 19301.
— Jen, no town
ANSWER: I was impressed that someone from the Philadelphia area reads Sun Spots! Jen and her team have a really cool business transforming clothing into memory blankets, stuffed animals, ornaments and more. But surely, there is someone locally who does this type of work? Please write to Sun Spots!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: We were given a glider-style rocking chair but it doesn’t have any cushions. The bottom cushion needs to be a “T” style. We haven’t had any luck at furniture stores.

ANSWER: Most recently, in Sun Spots Dec. 5, I mentioned Unique Designs in Greene. I contacted upholsterer Doreen Gendron again and she said, “Send them my way!” She should be able to supply you with custom-made cushions. Doreen can be reached at 754-0048 or find her on Facebook at Unique Designs.
Since I don’t know how far you want to travel, here are other upholsterers we have listed in the recent past. Decorating Plus in Gray, 784-0173 and 657-8103; Hill’s Upholstery, 346 Lewiston Road, Topsham, 725-2485; Maine Correctional Center in Windham, where work is done by inmates learning new skills, 17 Mallison Falls Road, Windham, 893-7000; and Mary’s Upholstery, Route 196 in Topsham, 353-7638. In Bethel there is Bennett’s Upholstery on Mechanic Street, 824-2336. Alan Osborn Upholstery is on Main Street in Sumner, 388-3177. Enjoy that chair! There’s nothing like a nice glider!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope you are open to printing another letter regarding excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), which tends to run in families. I am in my late 50s and have been dealing with this condition since puberty, first under my arms and later affecting my feet. I tried the previously suggested “natural” solutions, with no success. Applying over-the-counter solid or roll-on antiperspirants can be of some help for milder cases. I have had some success with a product called Carpe antiperspirant foot lotion, available online. I get mine at amazon.com. There are other topical creams and further measures for relief, including surgery, Botox injections and medical devices (iontophoresis) that temporarily stop the sweating in hands/feet. For more information about the various options available, I suggest a look at the website for the nonprofit International Hyperhidrosis Society: https://sweathelp.org.

ANSWER: This letter is in regard to our now infamous youngster with the stinky feet (Sun Spots, Dec. 18) and contains very interesting information. So many of you have reached out with your wisdom and tips to help find a solution. You’ll be happy to know that I did hear from his mom: “Our little guy has been much more diligent with keeping his shoes dry and changing his socks. He is also using a deodorant formulated especially for feet so the situation is much improved! Thanks to all!”
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
