LEWISTON — Maine Event Comedy’s Tightest Five contest continues with the second preliminary round at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Bear Bones Beer.
Mark Turcotte will host 10 hopefuls as they perform their best five minutes of original material, with five comics advancing to the semifinals. Along with bragging rights, the winner’s prize package includes paid work, professional headshots and craft beer.
Contestants include Randy Williams, Londonderry, New Hampshire; Mike Johnson, Portland; Zach Griffith, Portland; Adam Hatch, Bangor; Nick Gordon, New Gloucester; Tony Capobianco, Easton, Masachusetts; Nate Davis, Boston, Massachusetts; Mike Hallinan, Westbrook; David McLaughlin, Somerville, Massachusetts; Ryan Ellington, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Biddeford’s Mike Gray will be the evening’s featured comedian. Gray is living proof that a horrible childhood can be turned around into an equally horrible adulthood. He was a finalist in the 2017 Best Bar Comic Competition and performs regularly throughout Maine and New Hampshire.
The semifinals will be Thursday, Feb. 15, and the finals will take place Thursday, March 15. An open-mic, available to jokesmiths of all levels, will follow the show.
