AUBURN — Emery S. Bubier, 59, of North Parish Road, Turner, died peacefully at the Hospice House on Sunday, Jan. 28, with his family by his side.

Emery was born on July 12, 1958, in Lewiston, the son of Betty and Phillip Bubier of Greene. He was a graduate of Leavitt Area High School with the Class of 1977.

Emery began his career as a meat cutter in his early teens at Town and Country Foods in Greene, where he was employed for 24 years. In 1999, he began working for Bubier Meats in Greene, and in 2013, went to work in the new USDA meat processing facility at Caldwell Farms in Turner.

Emery was intrigued with learning to fly small engine aircraft and at the age of 18 earned his private pilot’s license at Twitchell’s Airport in Turner. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and time spent at his camp on Brassua Lake in Rockwood, where many friends and relatives frequented.

Emery was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in feeding a large crowd. He enjoyed gardening and sharing vegetables with family and friends. He was always ready to play a game of cards, cribbage being his favorite.

Emery loved time spent with his grandchildren, Quinn and Grace Curran, Cain and Connor Dixon, and Brody Roy. He will be sadly missed by his chocolate lab, “Bridger,” who was always by his side. Emery is survived by his ex-wife and ongoing companion of 25 years, Holly Bubier of Mechanic Falls; his father, Phillip Bubier, of Greene; two daughters, Jennifer and husband, Andrew Curran, of Bangor, Melissa and husband, Calvin Dixon, of Auburn; one sister, Deborah and husband, Edward Giroux, of Greene; four brothers, Jeffrey and wife, Jeannine Bubier, of Monmouth, Dale and wife, Colleen Bubier, of New Gloucester, Brian and wife, Lisa Bubier, of Monmouth, James Bubier and partner, Rick Austin, of Norway; two stepdaughters, Brianna Ellis of Poland, and Kaylee Ellis of Mechanic Falls; his many close friends, including Guy Tracy, who was there for him especially during his last days; his second family at Caldwell Farms; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Bubier, in 2011.
