WINTHROP — Madison stepped up and outgunned Winthrop 55-43 in a late-season boys’ basketball tilt Thursday. 

The Ramblers (12-4) were paced by Cam Wood with a solid 15-point performance, while Sam Figueroa chipped in nine.

Sean Whalen led the Bulldogs (9-8) with a game-high 21 points, while Matt Oliver tallied eight and Matt Shibley added seven. 

Mountain Valley 58, Lisbon 48

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley’s offense hit high gear mid-game, using a 20-8 run in the third quarter to take command and pull away for a 58-48 boys’ basketball victory over Lisbon on Thursday. 

Will Bean led the Falcons (11-6) with 11 points, while Keegan Davis tallied nine and Will Sorensen added seven.

Jonah Sautter led the Greyhounds (8-8) with 17 points, highlighted by his 1,000th career point. DJ Douglass chipped in 13 points.  

Buckfield 77, GPC 42

BUCKFIELD — After jumping out to a 15-point advantage in the first quarter, Buckfield never eased off the gas and sped away to a 77-42 rout over Greater Portland Christian in a boys’ basketball tilt Thursday. 

Noah Wiley led the Bucks (8-8) with 24 points, six steals and six assists. Ethan Jackson chipped in with 21 points, while Zack Grover lit the scoreboard for 17 points and was credited with nine steals. 

Mason Jones was a one-man show for Greater Portland Christian (0-11), pouring in 36 points. 

Boothbay 77, Mt. Abram 55

SALEM — Boothbay put its offense into high gear after the halftime break, racing away to record a 77-55 win over Mt. Abram in a boys’ basketball tilt Thursday. 

The Seagulls (11-5) utilized an effective two-man attack, led by Kyle Ames, who tallied 29 points, including nine shots from beyond the arc. Steve Reny chipped in 27 points. 

The Roadrunners (1-15) were paced by Sam Storer with a solid 18-point effort, while Evan MacKay added 10.

Leavitt 52, Mt. Ararat 48, OT

TURNER — Ali Noniewicz and Kayleigh Gilbert came up big with late foul shots, allowing Leavitt to earn a 52-48 overtime win over Mt. Ararat.

Sophie Gilbert led the Hornets with 18 points, and sister Kayleigh added 12. 

Mt. Ararat was paced by Alex Eaton with a solid 13-point performance, while Ainsley Bryant chipped in with six.  

Hebron 46, Buckfield 33

BUCKFIELD — Hebron jumped out to a 12-point halftime lead and never looked back, defeating Buckfield 46-33 in a girls’ basketball matchup Thursday.

Reily New led Hebron (10-3) with a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, while sister Maddy tallied 13. Eliza Quinones grabbed a team high 19 boards, while Franceska Halloran had 11 steals and five assists.

Katy Henderson led Buckfield (1-14) with 10 points, and Karen McNeil contributed six.

Unified basketball

Edward Little 33, Lisbon 25

LISBON — Ben Dumont lit the boards with 10 points Thursday to lead Edward Little to a 33-25 win over Lisbon in a Unified basketball tilt. 

Gage Cloutier chipped in for Edward Little with eight points, while Kegan Kenny added six. Amsden Hayes, Carter Culleton and Josh Dumont all played strong on defense. 

Dawson Martel led the way for Lisbon with eight points, while Wesley Lucas tallied six and Kristy Coleman added four. Michael Farrington, Misty Coleman and Lynn Feely were all solid on defense for Lisbon.

Lewiston sweeps Edward Little

LEWISTON — Brooke Cloutier won two individual events and helped a pair of relays to wins to earn swimmer of the meet and lead the Lewiston High School girls to an 87-68 win over rival Edward Little in the teams’ meet at Bates College on Thursday.

Cloutier won the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breast stroke events while helping the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay teams to wins, as well. Melina Masselli also had a strong day for the Blue Devils, earning the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly, a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and was also part of the two winning relay teams.

Emma Hefty (200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle) and Leila Chirayath (50-yard freestyle) won events for the Red Eddies, who also claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay.

In the boys’ meet, Brendan Whitman of Edward Little took home swimmer-of-the-meet honors, earning the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle, second in the 50-yard freestyle and helping two relays to top-three finishes.

Lewiston won the boys’ meet, 84-32. The Devils’ top performers included Lennon Labelle, who won the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke, and helped two relays to top finishes in the Lewiston rout.

Other winners in the boys’ meet included Donovan Shaw of EL in the 200 freestyle, Dominic Daigle of Lewiston in the 200 IM, and Hayden Bavis of Lewiston in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The teams ramp up for championship season next week, with the KVAC Championships slated for Saturday, Feb. 10 in Brunswick.
