MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library is hosting a number of events through the next few months.
On Wednesday, Feb. 14, “Love Yourself” will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be meditative music and those attending can create their own Zen garden while savoring some sweet snacks. There will be a simple Valentine’s Day craft as well as goody bags to take home. Explore meditation, reflexology, aromatherapy and relaxation.
March kicks off with a Murder Mystery Dinner fundraiser hosted by the Mexico Advisory Board. On Friday, March 2, 12 people will dine Italian, act out “Pasta, Passion & Pistols” and guess who murdered Pepi Roni.
On Saturday, March 17, there will be a Mini-Memoir Workshop with Melanie Brooks, author of “Writing Hard Stories: Celebrated Memorists who Shaped Art from Trauma.”
Regular family game nights are the first Friday of each month. Borrow board games or card games and play with family, friends or someone new. Or bring a favorite and play with a new partner or group.
The second Friday each month is movie night: “Beauty and the Beast” in February, “Coco” in March and the new “Jumanji” in April (subject to change). Concessions will be available for purchase, including popcorn, drinks and candy.
The third Friday each month is an all-day coloring event. In February there will be card-making for that special valentine.
The fourth Friday is a Taste the World event where patrons can taste snacks and desserts from different countries around the world.
Call the library at 207-364-3281 for more information. Winter hours are effective until May 12: Closed Saturday through Monday, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays.
