FARMINGTON — McKenna Brodeur sank a game-high 21 points as the University of Maine at Farmington dispatched Green Mountain 69-56 in women’s basketball action Friday.

The Beavers (6-11) came out strong in the first quarter with a 17-8 run, and again in the third frame with a 24-13 sprint. Haley Felkel came off the bench to contribute 12 points for UMF.

The Eagles (5-17) had three starters score double-digits, but were weaker from the bench. Sharena Armstrong posted a team-high 19 points, while Maya Golowasch scored the only points off the bench with two.

CMCC 82, Maine-Machias 53

AUBURN — Twelve different Mustangs scored as the Central Maine Community College women’s basketball team defeated Maine-Machias 82-53 on Friday.

Alex Bessey led the balanced scoring attack with 13 points while also recording seven assists and three steals. Kristen Huntress and Kristina Blais each had 11 points for the Mustangs (25-1), and Natalie Thurber chipped in with 10 points.

Linda Riley paced the Clippers with a game-high 16 points. She also grabbed 13 rebounds.

Central Maine host rival Southern Maine Community College on Monday in its regular-season finale.

Men’s basketball

UMF 84, Green Mountain 64

FARMINGTON — Bill Ruby dazzled the fans with a game-high 31 points as the University of Maine at Farmington collected an 84-64 victory over Green Mountain in men’s basketball action Friday.

The Beavers (6-11) paddled their way to a 53-26 halftime lead. Riley Robinson contributed 11 points, and Eric Berry added 10 for UMF.

The Eagles (7-14) managed to outscore the Beavers in the second half 38-31. However, 27 points was too much to overcome. Alex Sanchez posted a team-high 15 points, while Duane Goodman Jr. chipped in with 12 points.

Bates 65, Trinity 48

LEWISTON — Junior Nick Lynch tallied a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds as Bates College defeated Trinity 65-48 in NESCAC men’s basketball action Friday evening.

The Bobcats (12-12) tallied nine steals and caused 17 turnovers, while keeping their tournament hopes alive with the win.

Bates turned in a balanced performance on offense with eight different players scoring six or more points.

Donald Jorden established a team-high 10 points to go along with six rebounds for the Bantams (15-8) in the losing effort.
