Talk slated on opiods, homeless
BETHEL — Brian Loring of Preble Street, working with the homeless in Portland, will speak on the opioid addiction as it affects the homeless population in a talk at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at the West Parish Congregational Church.
The church is sponsoring a potluck supper at 6 p.m. and those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. Loring will talk following the supper.
Snow date is Saturday, Feb. 24.
Hope Association plans fashion show
RUMFORD — The Hope Association will have its Winter Fashion Show on Thursday, Feb. 22. The snow date will be Friday, Feb. 23.
The Glee Club will entertain at noon, followed by the fashion show at 12:15 p.m.
The show will feature examples of clothing available at the association’s What-Not-Shop.
Paris Public Library’s Superhero Party
PARIS — Superheroes of all ages are invited to unite at the Paris Public Library’s Superhero Party from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Deering Memorial Community Center.
To hone their villain fighting abilities, participants will make shields, masks and arm cuffs, fight their way through a yarn gauntlet and test their web-shooting skills with silly string.
Spiderman, Wonder Woman and Deadpool plan to attend the visit with their fellow superheroes-in-training.
The center is located across Church Street from the library. The event is free and welcomes all heroes in the greater Oxford Hills community. Heroes may come in costume or in their everyday street identities.
