RICHMOND — Jesse James Melanson, 33, a resident of Richmond, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 15, at his home.

He was born in Brunswick, March 17, 1984, the son of Ervin James and Mary (Alexander) Melanson. Jesse grew up in Lisbon Falls and after graduating from Lisbon High School joined the United States Army, serving his country with the 10th Mountain Division Engineers. Jesse served four tours of duty during Iraqi Freedom. Also during his military career, he served on a joint task force with the U.S. Border Patrol on the Mexican border.

Following his military career, he served in a leadership role with the fuel division of several government contractors. His current position was a quality inspector with General Dynamics.

Jesse loved mountain biking, riding ATVs and had a strong work ethic and enjoyed providing for his family.

Survivors include his wife, the former Robin Bussiere, whom he married on Oct. 4, 2014, of Richmond; one son, Gavin, and one daughter, Presley, both of Richmond; his parents, Ervin and Mary Melanson, of Sabattus; one sister, Lisa Melanson, of Lisbon Falls; and one brother, Ervin Melanson, of Topsham. Also surviving are nieces and one nephew.
