Who will pay for the proposed expansion of Medicaid in Maine? One-quarter of Maine’s population are children; another quarter are handicapped or disabled; one quarter are jobless and/or homeless. That leaves the final quarter who are the workers (who pay for it).

Government officials do not take money out of their pockets to provide for the services the public needs.

It is my thought that if someone refuses to work, he or she cannot expect to collect later on. Throughout my working years, I paid into Social Security, then Medicare and my own pension plan.

Everyone must do their share for the benefit of everyone else. We cannot rely on a few workers to do it all.
