RUMFORD — EnvisionRumford has received a $15,000 grant for operating expenses the next two years, President Randall Therrien said.
Therrien told EnvisionRumford board members this month that he applied for the grant from the Betterment Fund, which was created by the will of the late William Bingham II of Bethel, who died in 1955. Grants include programs which support local communities to increase their capacity to improve and sustain the quality of life for residents and programs for the preservation and responsible use of Maine’s natural resources, according to its website.
“They wanted to see the money used for multiple things,” Therrien said.
Board members suggested using it for the new gazebo, supplies for Pumpkin Fest and downtown Christmas decorations.
Board members said they’re preparing to move the Pumpkin Fest in October to Hosmer Field because of construction downtown this year.
