LEEDS — A story published Feb. 17 on Page B3 of the City edition should have said the SAD 52 budget passed by voters in May 2017 required that any additional state subsidy received by the district above the state’s original funding in February 2017 be returned to the towns. It should have said that in the summer of 2017, the district received an additional subsidy of about $575,000 and that subsidy, minus anticipated expenses, will be returned to the towns later this year.

The story should also have said that, according to Superintendent Kimberly Brandt, state law this year requires that 50 percent of any additional subsidy received by Maine school districts for the 2018-19 school year go back to the towns. Brandt, however, said no additional subsidy is anticipated this year.
