A person’s values say a lot about their character — who they are and why people view them with respect. Jared Golden, a Lewiston resident, has earned that respect.
Born in Lewiston and raised in Leeds, he graduated from high school and felt a call to action after 9/11 and joined the Marines. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon returning to Lewiston, he worked low-wage jobs and learned that he could attend Bates College on the GI Bill. That was about the time I met him.
Now a current state representative, he was elected by his peers to be the Assistant Minority Leader. His commitment to public service has made a difference in so many people’s lives, including seniors, veterans and young people.
I hope others will join me in supporting Jared Golden. His character and integrity are needed in the U.S. Congress. He will fight for the people.
