Extension to hold tractor safety course

SIDNEY — A tractor safety course, offered by University of Maine Cooperative Extension, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays starting April 2 at Kramer’s Inc., 2400 West River Road.

Classes will continue on April 9, 16 and 23. A written exam and tractor-driving test will be held April 30.

The classes are designed for adults and youth at least 14 years of age, and are required for 14- and 15-year-olds who plan to operate farm equipment for hire on farms other than their own. Those who successfully complete the written and road tests will be issued a federal certificate of training.

The cost is $20. Online (tinyurl.com/y8z2hwmk) registration is required by Wednesday, March 28.

Society meeting change this month only

FARMINGTON — Farmington Historical Society will meet at noon Saturday, March 24, for a potluck at the North Church, 118 High St. The change is for this month only.

A short meeting will follow. A special tour will be held at 1 p.m. of Origins Co., the new martial arts manufacturing business across from North Church. Everyone is welcome.

Library’s annual Children’s Spring Party

PARIS — The Paris Public Library celebrates the arrival of spring and the season’s holidays with its annual Children’s Spring Party from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Deering Memorial Community Center, across Church Street from the library.

The event is free and all children are welcome. Craft activities will include bunny bookmarks, paper flowers and gold slime. The party will also also feature a St. Patrick’s Day/Easter Scavenger Hunt.

Adult education to hold State House Day

AUGUSTA — Maine Adult Education will hold its annual State House Day in the Hall of Flags from 8:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 10. The event provides the many adult education programs in Maine an opportunity to visit their legislators.

Programs will have informational table displays in the Hall of Flags. Several programs will bring groups of adult learners to visit sessions of the House and Senate, tour the Statehouse and visit the Maine State Museum.

At 9:30, a program in the Hall of Flags will highlight the many ways that adult education programs have enhanced the lives of participants. Speakers will include State Director of Adult Education Gail Senese, PhD, Sen. Brian Langley, Sen. Nate Libby and students from area adult education programs.
