This week the Buzz is building momentum — and maybe building houses.

Developer Chase Custom Homes & Finance out of Westbrook has proposed building a 31-lot subdivision on 33.2 wooded acres at 131 Hogan Road in Lewiston.

The project will go before the Planning Board for a public hearing April 9.

Each lot in Sanctuary Estates would be at least 20,000 square feet with 50 feet of frontage, for a single-family home, according to the application submitted to the city.

It would also maintain 11 acres of “naturally wooded open space.”

The cost of road construction and related improvements is estimated at $920,000.

Ready, set, grow

On Monday, the Lewiston Planning Board unanimously approved Valley Beverage’s $1.5 million expansion at 2019 Lisbon St.

The former Federal Distributors wanted the 23,612-square-foot addition to accommodate more storage for the growing business.

Work is expected to start this spring after securing Department of Environmental Protection permits.

Uplift LA head Jodi Redmun said 60 nominations have come in so far. Categories include education, emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. The deadline is April 15.

“We’re confident that the community will continue to nominate more amazing people,” Redmun said.

The awards, she said, are intended to highlight up-and-coming talent. She encouraged people to “take a moment to look around at your co-workers, the members of your church group, or your friends and neighbors who go above and beyond every day to move this community forward and help us give them the recognition they deserve.”
