DEAR READERS: There was an error in yesterday’s column.

In the answer to John in Lewiston, who is seeking access to veterinary records from the now-closed Central Maine Veterinary Hospital, Sun Spots should have said complaints filed with the Maine Board of Veterinary Medicine in Augusta should name the business and business owner —not the veterinarian.

The business owner “owns” and controls the records, not the doctors who were part of the practice. In order for John to get those records, he’ll have to get in touch with the owner. The number to file a complaint with the Board is 207-624-8603.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a knitter of doll blankets for children at Auburn after-school programs. I’m looking for yarn in all colors to make these little blankets. Yarn can be dropped off at any school’s main office in Lewiston and Auburn. I can be reached at 207-689-4267 or at 207-784-8365.

I really appreciate your help with this project. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The children will be so happy when they get a blanket.

ANSWER: If you have yarn to spare or want to buy a bit of extra for this project next time you’re shopping, know that the children are excited about receiving these little blankets for their dolls! Anne is working with Sherwood Heights, Park Avenue and Fairview Elementary schools, as well as East Auburn Community School.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for all the great information. I am back again for help. Is there any place in the Norway-South Paris area that takes soda cans tabs? I used to take them to the library, but they no longer collect them.

— No name, no town

ANSWER: OK readers, this is your big chance to help out. If you know of a place or organization in the Norway-Paris area that collects these tabs, send me a note. I do know that The Ronald McDonald House in Portland at 250 Brackett St. collects them. If you need more information, their number is 207-780-6282. A wonderful Sun Spots reader also collects these tabs and gets them to Portland. Mary Ann Norcross can be contacted at 207-783-6651.

Another nonprofit that is known for cashing in these tiny gems for good works is the Shriners Hospital for Children at 51 Blossom St. in Boston (617-722-3000). Call the Shriners toll-free at 1-800-237-5055 and they’ll help you get your tabs to the hospital. Let’s get those recycled tabs on their way to making a difference in the world!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a fourth-grade student in North Carolina. In fourth grade, we research a state for our State Fair, and I have chosen your state! I am very excited to learn more about the great state of Maine as I work on my report.

While we will research most of the information ourselves, we also like to get first-hand knowledge from people who live in the state. This is why I am writing to you. I was hoping that you would be willing to send me some small items to help me learn more about the best things in your state. It could be things like postcards, maps, pictures, general information, this newspaper article, or any other items that you think would be useful. You can mail items to the address below by April 30 for our State Fair on May 18. I really appreciate your help and will do my very best to send a thank you note to each and every person who takes the time to help me with this project. Write to David Huckleberry, Mrs. Dodd’s Class, Charlotte Latin School, 9502 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28277. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

— David, Charlotte, North Carolina

ANSWER: Let’s make this young fellow’s day and send him plenty of Maine swag for his project!
