GREENSBORO, N.C. — Georgette Simone (Plourde) Gosselin, 89, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away Saturday, March 3, surrounded by her loving children, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease at The Guilford House Memory Care Facility, where she had resided since May 2017.

She was born March 9, 1928, in Lewiston, the daughter of Auguste and Delima (Ouellette) Plourde. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and received her diploma from Lewiston High School.

She married the love of her life, Charles O. Gosselin, on June 27, 1953. Together, they raised their three children in a love-filled home. Holidays were always extra-special times with their children and grandchildren. Georgette, housekeeping supervisor, retired from Bates College in 1986.

Georgette and Charles relished time spent with their family in Lewiston and Marco Island, Fla., their primary residence after retirement. They enjoyed traveling together, whether to the Maine coast or to faraway islands. Georgette took pleasure in cooking and baking for her family, spending time with extended family and friends, walking on the beach and shell-hunting, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and needlework.

Georgette was a member of St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Lewiston and San Marco Catholic Church in Marco Island, Fla.

Georgette is survived by a daughter, Ann Iannarone, and husband, Michael, of Greensboro, N.C.; her son, Ron, of Saint Cloud, Fla.; and her daughter, Susan Perry, and husband, Mark, of Litchfield; grandchildren, Jennifer Meger and husband, Andrew, Sean Moore, Jason Gosselin, Sara Roderick and husband, Robert, Josh and Ethan Perry; great-grandchildren, Westley Meger, Avery Gosselin, Jacob, Justin and Gracie Roderick.

Georgette was predeceased by Charles, her husband of 53 years; her parents; sisters, Rose Perrier, Blandine Perrier and Geralda Plourde; brothers, Auguste and Gaston Plourde; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; a nephew.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Guilford House Memory Care Facility, as well as Georgette’s Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro team for their care and support.
