NORWAY — “ColorTheSky!” is the name of a new group started by a Norway woman who hopes to bring back the joy of flying kites.

Terry Robinson said she recently started flying kites again and is “really loving it.” She even came up with her group’s name based on a kite she purchased a few months ago. It’s a design depicting Crayola crayons, with streamers behind them, appearing to “color the sky.”

“I want to give opportunities to other people to discover the sport,” she said. “Not a ton of people around here fly kites, and since I’m out there anyway, I thought I’d invite others to come along.”

The former teacher said when she finds something she is passionate about, she learns as much as she can about it, and then shares it with others.

ColorTheSky! events will include comprehensive information on kiting, from buying to flying and everything in between.

“Some people have had really frustrating experiences (flying kites), and I’ve educated myself to know the types of kites that work, and how to do it,” Robinson said. “I can help with purchasing, and also things like finding the right line strength.”

The group will go out on weekends, and Robinson will send an email on Friday evenings about the day, time and place of the outing.

“It’s really hard to plan days ahead, because the sport is so wind- and weather-dependant,” Robinson said.

Those who would like to join Robinson on her high-flying adventures and be added to her mailing list can call or text her at 207-890-5207 or email her at colorthesky3@gmail.com.
