AUBURN — The Curious Minds Lecture series will continue at the Auburn Public Library at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, as Senior College Chair Lucy Bisson presents “A Pictorial Guide to Egypt.” The public is invited to the program, which will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room.

In the spring of 2016, Bisson visited Egypt with her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Marianne Mason. They visited many of the iconic monuments. Egypt emerged as one of the world’s first nation states in the 10th millennium BC. Considered a cradle of civilization, Ancient Egypt saw some of the earliest developments of writing, agriculture, urbanization, organized religion and central government.

A Lewiston native, Bisson was raised in a traditional French Canadian family. An entrepreneur, she and her husband opened a small business, NLB Stamps & Engraving, which they ran together out of their home. As a nontraditional student, she attended college in her 30s and received her BA in accounting from UMA-LA in the 1991.

The Curious Minds Lecture series is a joint partnership with the Lewiston-Auburn Senior College. The partnership brings several speakers on a variety of topics.

To find out more about the Senior College, visit https://usm.maine.edu/seniorcollege or attend one of the lectures. All of the lectures are free to the public.

Lucy Bisson is pictured in front of The Great Pyramid in Egypt during a visit that will be the subject of a talk at Auburn Public Library.
