HARRISON — Selectmen announced this week that Rangeley Town Manager Tim Pellerin has been hired for the top administrative job.

“I’m looking forward to coming to Harrison because of its character that resembles the Rangeley region, but allows me to be closer to my family and friends,” Pellerin said in a statement.

He will succeed Town Manager George “Bud” Finch, who announced his retirement in mid-September after more than seven years at the helm.

Selectmen said they found an “outstanding” replacement for Finch.

“We believe that Tim has the depth and breadth of experience to make an outstanding town manager,” the board wrote in its announcement.

Pellerin was born and raised in Westbrook and graduated from Westbrook High School. He started his full-time firefighting career in 1980 and has worked in Brunswick, Portland, Westbrook and Rangeley fire departments the past 38 years.

He has been Rangeley’s manager the past four years and its fire chief the past six years.

Pellerin has an Associate of Science degree in fire science, a certificate in emergency management and a certificate in municipal management.

He has a son and a daughter, and two granddaughters.

Details on when he will begin his duties are being worked out, the board statement said.

As for Finch, the board thanked him for his “quality service.”

“Harrison is in a far better place than when he arrived,” the statement said.
