LEWISTON — Payton Buxton tossed Bates College’s second softball no-hitter of the season Tuesday in an 8-1 victory over the University of Maine atFarmington in Game 2 of the doubleheader Tuesday at Lafayette Street Field.

Buxton struck out five and walked one. The lone run she allowed came in the top of third as Alyssa Dillan scored on a sacrifice for the Beavers.

Kirsten Pelletier and Mary Collette each had two RBIs for the Bobcats. Andrea Russo and Julia Panepinto also had a RBI in the victory.

Pelletier picked up the victory in the opener, throwing five shutout innings as the Bobcats came away with a 9-0 victory. She struck out nine of the 21 batters she faced while allowing two walks.

She helped her own cause with a pair of RBIs with a single in the bottom of the second inning. Buxton and Russo had one RBI. Bates scored five unearned runs as the Beavers had four errors in the contest.
