WALES — Richard G. Waters, 87, went quietly to be with the Lord at his home on Friday, April 13, following a brief illness. He was born in Lawrence, Mass., on April 8, 1931, the son of Raymond and Agnes Waters. He attended schools in Lewiston.

Dick married Margaret Chase of Lisbon Falls on Nov. 29, 1952. He built a home for them there – and he built on as his family grew. His family was important to him, and they spent many vacation weeks and weekends camping together.

Members of South Lewiston Baptist Church since 1969, Dick and Margaret served together in many different areas – working with Word of Life youth, singing in the choir, and hosting small groups. Dick’s sense of humor and his quiet smile were a great encouragement to everyone around him.

After several short-term employments, Dick was hired by Bath Iron Works in 1963. After his retirement in 1988, Dick found several ways to showcase his creativity through woodworking, painting, and stained-glass work.

Dick is survived by his wife, Margaret; his sons, Richard Waters Jr. and wife, Jane, of Lisbon Falls, Robbie Waters and wife, Corina, of Lewiston, and Dean Waters and wife, Laura, of Wales; one Swedish daughter, Amanda Guy and husband, John; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Kevin.

You are invited to offer your condolences and share fond memories with the family by visiting Richard’s guestbook at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com.
