AUBURN — Three teens were arrested outside a Center Street nightclub late Tuesday night after a brawl during Chem-Free Night for 12- to 18-year-olds.
Police from Lewiston and Auburn were called to Sapphire Nightclub and Event Center shortly before 11:30 p.m. for a fight involving dozens of people.
The three teens were charged with disorderly conduct but not identified because of their ages.
A video circulating on Facebook on Wednesday showed several teens assaulting a man working security outside the club. The club owner posted on Facebook Wednesday that he was punched in the face and his wife was bitten during the melee.
Police said there were no serious injuries but they declined to release further details. None of the security staff reported being assaulted, according to Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen.
Early reports were that the fight started when a club employee took a knife away from a patron.
The club owners said Wednesday that they will no longer host Chem-Free Night.
Amanda Fitts, who runs Sapphire with her husband, Jeremy Fitts, wrote on Facebook that the club had been offering Chem-Free Nights without incident for three years.
“We are sorry this happened,” Fitts wrote on Facebook, “but I personally feel my staff, my husband and I handled it the best we could as they are children.”
Fitts also wrote that she has a meeting scheduled with Auburn police about the incident.
