PARIS — Paris Public Library’s “Novel Idea Book Club,” adults reading children’s, juvenile and young adult selections, will meet to discuss the young adult, realistic fiction book, “Paperboy” by Vince Vater at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15.
The book about an 11-year-old boy living in Memphis in 1959 who throws the meanest fastball in town, but talking is a whole different ball game, according to Goodreads. The boy has a speech impediment, causing him to struggle saying any word, even his name. He takes over his friend’s paper route, which poses challenges — but a run-in with the neighborhood junkman puts the boy’s life in danger.
