OXFORD — Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District has announced that those who have purchased plants from its Native Plant & Tree Sale may pick up their purchases between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at 195 Pleasant St.

Library to present solar workshop
WATERFORD — The third is a series of Brown Bag Gardening Chats will feature Fred Garbo and Shawn Kane of Garbo-Kane Solar presenting an educational workshop from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Waterford Library, 663 Waterford Road.
They will discuss solar electricity, electric vehicle charging stations and battery storage. They will also discuss some of the best ways to harvest electricity from the sun, how to best use the technology to save money, become more energy efficient and have less of an impact on the environment.
The event is free and open to the public. Bring a lunch, and beverages and dessert will be provided.
Harrison Lions to hold tournament
HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, May 5, at the VFW Hall, Waterford Road. There will be a $55 entry fee. Doors will open at noon with starting time at 1 p.m.
This is an event where participants can bring beverages, and food and refreshments will be available. The proceeds will be used to help support local children’s programs such as eye screening, Christmas for kids and scholarships.
Genealogical Society talks Family Search
FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Genealogical Society will welcome members and the public at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at the LDS Family Search Center.
Speaker Deb Probert will present information about FamilySearch.com, the world’s largest collection of free family trees, genealogy records and resources.
She will share information on “Finding Elusive Records” and how to tap into the hard-to-find documents, including unindexed image collections and advanced search techniques.
