LEWISTON — The jazzy blues sounds of George Gershwin and Cole Porter will echo through The Dolard & Priscilla Gendron Franco Center’s performance hall May 19 and 20.
The Maine Music Society Chorale will present “Favorites from the Great American Songbook” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 20.
These songs are written for musical theater and movies between the 1920s and 1950s are characterized by witty lyrics and delightfully surprising rhymes. Titles include “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and “Just One of Those Things” by Cole Porter and “ ’S Wonderful,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” and “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” by George Gershwin.
