This is in response to the letter from Dan Lothrop (May 8). I would like to apologize to Lothrop for the ignorance the public has regarding service dogs. The law is simple — businesses cannot deny entry to service dogs and handler.
As an experienced certified dog trainer, I volunteer to train companion service dogs for veterans with PTSD.
Most veterans don’t want to draw unnecessary attention to themselves so, if told to leave, they do, but they leave with a heavy heart and don’t say anything.
The public needs to stand up and defend the nation’s wounded warriors. If people see an employee, manager or owner harassing a veteran, people need to stand up and insist that the harassment stop or call the police.
I encourage Lothrop to make the name of the business public on social media, so that it can be treated the same as that business did to him.
