POLAND — Residents approved a proposed $22.3 million budget for Regional School Unit 16 on Monday night, sending it to a final vote in June.

Superintendent Tina Meserve said about 75 residents attended the meeting and vote. Residents passed all articles as proposed — most with few questions or few dissenting votes.

“It was probably the smoothest, quickest budget meeting we’ve had,” Meserve said.

The budget for 2018-19 represents a 3.7 percent increase from this year’s spending plan. It would increase property taxes on a $100,000 house by $99.63 in Minot, $92.45 in Mechanic Falls and $65.01 in Poland.

The proposed budget next goes to Poland, Minot and Mechanic Falls for validation votes Tuesday, June 12.
