RUMFORD — Jo-Ann DiFrederico MacDougall passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 23, surrounded by her loved ones. The daughter of Augustino and Arlene DiFrederico, Jo-Ann was born in Millinocket on May 19, 1944. Growing up in the Little Italy section of Millinocket in a multi-generational home, Jo-Ann developed a strong appreciation and respect for family that she happily shared with those who knew her.

Jo-Ann was a graduate of Stearns High School (1962) in Millinocket, and went on to Gorham State College where she graduated with a B.A. in education. She taught briefly in Connecticut before returning to Maine to marry her college sweetheart, Wayne MacDougall. With a passion for education and a love of children, Jo-Ann taught throughout her life. Spending 33 years in the Rumford and Mexico school systems, Jo-Ann felt blessed to be an educator and cherished the lifelong friendships that stemmed from those years.

Outside of the classroom, Jo-Ann had many passions. Whether spoiling her grandchildren, road tripping with her best girlfriends or enjoying sunny days in Florida, she created memories that will be cherished by those who loved her.

Along with her husband, Wayne, spending time with her family and entertaining loved ones was one of Jo-Ann’s greatest pleasures. A lifelong artisan, she had a talent for creating beauty from the many crafts she pursued.

Jo-Ann is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wayne MacDougall; daughter, Kerry J. MacDougall, and her partner, Kevin Killourie; her daughter, Katherine M. Oldakowski, and son-in-law, W. Scott Oldakowski; her four beloved grandchildren, Celia Lynn, Nathaniel Lynn, Avery Oldakowski, William Oldakowski; her sisters-in-law Barbara DiFrederico, Brenda Sassi, Maureen Mayo, Sharon Law; and precious nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly.

Jo-Ann is predeceased by her parents Augustino (Gus) DiFrederico and Arlene H. DiFrederico, and her dear brother, Carl DiFrederico.
